Captain Cape Records was started by the Captain in early 2005 after he had a dream in which two brothers, one bearing an acoustic guitar and one sitting calmly behind a Baldwin organ, visited him in his bedroom and played the sweetest music he had ever heard. He woke up and could not remember any of the songs, only that they were beautiful. He searched far and wide for anything that sounded like those songs. Then he received a CD in an unmarked envelope, from the Day Action Band. Song after song was straight from his dream.
A short while later, the Captain again slipped into a long and vivid dream. In it a husband and wife appeared. Also, a very tall man and another, less tall man. They were in a medium-sized room filled with all kinds of unusual musical instruments. Without saying a word, they each picked up an instrument and began playing. The sound was beautiful, unpretentious and charming, yet slyly musical and utterly unforgettable. The next day he described the dream to a friend, who said a single word: "Motor."
